Gaspard Egret is a defining face of Saints la Nuit. When he is not before the lens, he operates with a singular devotion to the search for beauty—working as seamlessly with textiles as he does with the olfactory sense.

Born in Orléans, Gaspard Egret rapidly established himself in Paris, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Marketing. It was there that he discovered his passion for perfumery, forging his expertise through contact with emblematic houses such as Frédéric Malle and Serge Lutens. Simultaneously, he dedicated himself to modeling, styling, and consulting, before actively preparing the launch of his own olfactory line and a shoe brand alongside William Regan.

THE SPLEEN

THE SPLEEN

SLN: If you were not yourself, who would you be?

    G. E.: Lady D.

Gaspard Egret crafts a postmodern fashion vernacular, deftly shifting populist signs and contexts toward stylistic attitudes of a decadent refinement. Through his portfolio Le Spleen, he presents a series of looks designed for a contemporary Steppenwolf: romantic, erudite, and fragmentary—a collection sufficient in itself to manifest a new archetype. He might pair a camellia with military boots; his consistently compelling ensembles evoke Botticellian putti fallen to Earth in the twenty-first century. This masterful command of his aesthetic has led him to work as a stylist for a diverse clientele, most notably APM and Paola Leduc.

THE IDEAL

SLN: What is your material ideal?

G. E.: A silver fork

The experience of spleen always presupposes an ideal, and Gaspard Egret dedicates himself to it through the alchemy of perfumery. He envisions a fragrance to be diffused via a bronze jewel, a contemporary interpretation of the sacred recipes mentioned in the Holy Bible. Translating the biblical mention of important elements into a sanguine accord, he simultaneously interprets the altar upon which the fragrance rests and the salvific blood of Christ, all while elevating the olfactory space with respect for the nobility of the texts. One finds in his approach to perfumery a liturgical capacity to concentrate significant elements as a vector of intensity, without any fear of overdose—a quality equally noticeable in his approach to fashion.

Saints la Nuit is delighted to count Gaspard Egret among its key collaborators.
